About the Artist Ruby T (b. 1986) is an artist, educator, and organizer. Solo exhibitions include Mega Meadow Liquidation and Underwater Flood at Western Exhibitions, Chicago, IL; and Stone Shover at Randy Alexander, Chicago, IL. Two-person exhibitions include The Back Room at Kim’s Corner Food and Roots & Culture, Chicago, IL. Group exhibitions and screenings include Hales Gallery in New York, NY; Bass & Reiner in San Francisco, CA; Hyde Park Art Center, Iceberg Projects, Weinberg/ Newton Gallery, Gallery 400, ACRE Projects, and Roman Susan, all in Chicago, IL; and Monaco in St. Louis, MO.
She is a recipient of numerous awards and residencies including The Shandaken: Storm King Residency, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY (2022); Illinois Arts Council Individual Artist Award, Chicago, IL (2019); Wassaic Project Residency, Wassaic, NY (2017); Ox-Bow Fall Artists and Writers’ Residency and Fellowship award, Saugatuck, MI (2016); ACRE Residency, Steuben, WI (2015).
Ruby’s work has been written about and reviewed in the Chicago Tribune, Newcity, The Chicago Reader, Chicago Artist Writers, and the Provincetown Independent. Her comics and illustrations have been published by Half Letter Press, and are in the collection of the Thomas J. Watson Library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Ruby T received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016. She lives and works on Shawnee, Cherokee, Chickasaw and Osage land, also known as Louisville, KY.
