Farm Projects is pleased to present Back to Mine, a solo exhibition of new assemblage paintings by Megan Hinton, on view from August 15 through 25, 2025. In this body of work, Hinton returns to domestic subject matter through a tactile, multidimensional process that fuses painting, collage, and sculpture.

The exhibition title, Back to Mine, plays on the colloquial invitation to return home—both literally and metaphorically. These works invite viewers into Hinton’s intimate interior world, offering glimpses of kitchen tables, living rooms, garden views, and nearby vistas. At the same time, the phrase signals a return to foundational themes in Hinton’s practice, following a five-year exploration of appropriated imagery from the work of notable painters.

Rooted in the genre tradition of everyday scenes, the works in Back to Mine are built from salvaged materials: painted antique lumber, discarded canvas, and remnants of other artists’ works scavenged from flea markets and art school studios. These cast-off materials are reimagined into painterly wall sculptures, activating a dialogue between surface, memory, and invention.

Rather than framing space, Hinton’s compositions reflect how we move through it—fluidly and incompletely. Edges fragment, surfaces shift, and forms collide, suggesting the impermanence and improvisation of lived experience. By painting over pre-existing textures and assembling from fragments, Hinton remixes histories into a new visual language, one that is deeply personal yet resonant with collective meaning.
